NTB bags best tourism promotion award

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) bagged the best tourism promotion award at the 24th Korea World Travel Fair for its great contribution to the tourism industry development with positive public relation and marketing.
The board took part in 24th Korea World Travel Fair 2011 held in Seoul, South Korea on June 2-5. The fair was attended by more than 100,000 travel industry professionals, buyers and specialists and travel consumers from some 60 countries. There were 475 exhibitors representing from tourism industry buyers and travel consumers.
Korea is becoming a major player in the world tourism market, the board said, adding that Korea's travel patterns show more individualised and personalised trends.
By the April end, the total number of in and outbound travelers of Korea reached 12 million, which means 100,000 travellers a day.
Nepal has received 94.1 per cent more South Korean tourists in May compared to the same month a year ago. In 2010, some 6,544 South Korean tourists visited Nepal from January to May, whereas in 2011 in the last five months, some 7,988 South Korean arrivals by air is recorded.
Nepal Tourism Board along with two travel trade partners -- Ecological Treks and Kaze Travels -- showcased Nepal's cultural and natural products focusing specially on Lumbini.
